According to the Star, Tottenham Hotspur have lined up Wolves striker Raul Jimenez as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, should the England skipper depart North London this summer.
Kane has been linked with a host of moves away from the club since he said he “won’t stay at Spurs just for the sake of it” in an interview with Jamie Redknapp last month.
The Spurs striker made his desire to win silverware clear and, if he doesn’t think he’ll be able to do that with Tottenham, he will move on.
As a result, speculation that he could be on the way to Manchester United or Real Madrid this summer has been rife.
If Kane is indeed to leave Spurs this summer, they will need a replacement. Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly lined up Raul Jimenez as his top target.
The Mexican striker has enjoyed a very fruitful two seasons with Wolves. He currently has 39 goals in 88 appearances for the Midlands club.
This season, he’s scored 22 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions. A goal every other game is a great record no matter who you are.
Meanwhile, Tottenham star Harry Kane has endured something of an injury plagued season. That hasn’t stopped him finding the net 17 times in 25 appearances.
It’s estimated that, if Kane was to depart Tottenham this summer, he would cost an interested party somewhere in the region of £200m.
We at TSD use TransferMarkt’s valuation scale as a barometer of a player’s worth. Currently, they have Harry Kane valued at £108m.
Meanwhile, they have Jimenez valued at £36m, roughly a third of the valution of Kane. By that measure, if Kane goes for £200m – Jimenez could very well set Spurs back somewhere in the region of £70m…
