According to the Mirror, Manchester City winger Leroy Sane is edging closer to securing a move to German champions Bayern Munich.
The German star has missed the entire season this term due to a knee ligament injury he picked up in the Community Shield game back in August.
However, his representation have now stepped up their efforts to secure a move to Bayern – who haven’t been deterred by Sane’s lack of action.
Reportedly, Bayern are ready to offer £70m to Manchester City for Sane, which is half of what the Premier League champions wanted for him last summer.
However, the market value of Sane has plummeted this season what with his lack of action.
As well as that, Sane is out of contract in summer 2021 and has refused to sign an extension.
Currently, TransferMarkt value Sane at £72m, which runs parallel with the Bayern Munich valuation of the player.
His valuation on the TransferMarkt scale has dropped £18m this season with him having been touted as a £90m player in June 2019.
Add to that the current COVID-19 pandemic, which will no doubt cheapen the value of players as football deals with the financial toll of the pandemic.
There’s no reason why Bayern can’t make the move happen this season and, to be honest, there’s little point in Manchester City playing hardball if the player doesn’t want to be there.
It’s better to get £70m for him this summer than it is to lose him for nothing next summer.
