On-loan Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos says he has been assured his future lies with Real Madrid.
Ceballos didn’t make much of an impression and featured very little under Zinedine Zidane and, as such, was deemed surplus to requirements this season and loaned out.
This summer, if reports are to be believed, Real Madrid are set for something of a rebuild with as many as six first team stars said to be on the move.
Ceballos’ loan spell at Arsenal hasn’t really been as impressive as both he and the club had hoped for, bagging just one goal and two assists in all competitions.
The midfielder told DAZN that he has spoken to Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman has assured him his future lies at the Bernabeu.
“When I was at Valdebebas (Madrid’s training ground) two or three months ago, he told me he was following the Premier League, that he had seen me play and that he was happy I was getting the minutes I hadn’t had previously,” said Ceballos.
“My relationship with him is healthy. He always told me I was like him; that I was a player who needed to play a lot of games in order to play at a high rhythm.
“He has always said that my future is at Real Madrid and that I should be patient because it’s possible I’ll have an opportunity.”
It seems tough to see how Ceballos will survive the reported cull at Real Madrid this summer.
If he gets a decent offer from another top club this summer, which he likely will, Ceballos will surely take it.
He’s currently valued at £28m by TransferMarkt, but something tells me he won’t command such a fee… especially in a post-pandemic, financially weaker world.
