Roma keen on former Manchester United star

Roma are reportedly keen on signing former Manchester United star and Belgian international Adnan Januzaj – according to the players agent. The now 24-year-old winger currently plays his trade in Spain for Real Sociedad, but has fallen out of favour of late with Imanol Alguacil opting to play Portu on the right side instead.

This season, Januzaj has made 13 appearances this season in all competitions for a grand total of 573 minutes. In his somewhat limited time on the field, he’s bagged four goals and four assists. All of his goals have come in the Copa Del Rey and that stat is somewhat propped up by a hat-trick scored in an 8-0 battering of third division CD Becerril.

Since leaving Manchester United back in 2017, Januzaj has struggled to develop into the player it looked as though he could become back in his early days at Old Trafford. He’s yet to hit double figures as a Sociedad player in terms of goals, but according to his agent, he’s done enough to secure a move to Roma.

Adnan Januzaj to Roma a real possibility

The Italian giants are looking to bring Januzaj in on loan from Sociedad for the rest of the season with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

“Yes, Roma are one of the clubs interested in Januzaj during the January transfer window,” confirmed Januzaj’s agent. “The Giallorossi are a big club, so of course he’d like the idea of joining them. I cannot give any other details right now, you must understand…”

The proposed move following an injury to Nicolo Zaniolo and the breakdown of an attempted swap deal involving Matteo Politano and Leonardo Spinazzola. Whether he would be a good move or not is entirely dependent on what Adnan Januzaj turns up and pulls on that Roma shirt. Will it be the young star with bags of talent? Or will it be the disinterested and frustrating winger who struggles to impact any games? My guess will be the latter…
