It hasn’t been an exciting start to this transfer window for Millwall, with their only target failing a medical, meaning the deal fell through, but if reports coming out this morning are anything to go by, a new face could be on his way to Bermondsey.
After the end-of-season release purge, the Millwall squad was reduced to only 19 players, with Under-23 goalkeeper Ryan Sanford being the only remaining No.1.
So a new keeper was high on the club’s transfer priorities, and a new first team keeper seemed to be on his way to The Den as a fee in the region of £1 million was agreed with Ipswich Town for Bartosz Bialkowski.
The Polish shot-shopper had a medical at Millwall, which he failed due to previous knee problems. So it seems that The Lions are back to square one in their search for a GK.
Millwall signing Mahoney
Some more positive news for Millwall fans came to light today as the Daily Mail broke a story saying that a deal has been agreed between Millwall and AFC Bournemouth for winger Connor Mahoney.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at fellow championship side Birmingham City, scoring two goals and getting four assists in 30 appearances for the Blues.
No word yet on a fee or when a medical will take place, but fans will hope this will materialise into their second signing of the season after Alex Pearce, who signed permanently following a successful loan spell last term.
Notable exits for Millwall are Steve Morison and Lee Gregory, with Morison joining Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan and Gregory moving to Stoke City on a free transfer.
