Manchester United target move for German star

According to the papers, Manchester United are targeting a summer move for Bayern Munich and Germany star, Thomas Müller. In the last two years, the 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern Munich – particularly under recently departed coach Niko Kovac.

Now, it seems he has left the door open to a move away from the Allianz after 20 years with the German champions. “My focus is exclusively on being successful this season,” said Müller. “What will happen in the summer, I will talk to the club and consider my options. Then let’s see in which direction things will go.”

Müller is out of contract with Bayern in summer 2021 but, if he is play time is to continue to dwindle there’s a good chance he will look to move away from Munich. He has been playing more since Kovac left back in November – under interim boss Hansi Flick, Müller has started all but one of their Bundesliga games.

Could Muller really wear United red?

So far this season, Müller has five goals and 13 assists in all competitions so far this season – with the vast majority of those coming since Flick took over as manager. If he continues to get that much game-time under Flick for the rest of the season, he’ll be much more inclined to stick around – particularly if Flick gets the job permanently.

To me, moving to Manchester United is a good move for Müller personally – I think he could do well in that team. The one thing the Man United strike-force is missing this season is a focal point – and Müller would offer a brilliant one.

This isn’t the first time Müller has had the option of a move to Old Trafford. United offered Bayern £85million for his services back in 2017, under then manager Louis Van Gaal. Clearly the move failed to materialise, but what a move it would have been.

Is it a good move for United? Have your say in the comments section below.
