Manchester United Knocked Out

Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League after a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig. Despite a late comeback, it was not enough as the German side prevailed.

This now means the red half of Manchester will play European football on Thursday nights in the Europa League.

Manchester United performed poorly for the majority of this game, with the late comeback papering over the cracks. It could have easily been 4-0 to Leipzig before Bruno Fernandes’ penalty and an Ibrahima Konaté own goal gave United hope.

RB Leipzig players celebrate during their win over Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has once again been criticised, with calls for him to get the sack resurfacing.

Manchester United are just five points off the Premier League leaders, with a game in hand. This will probably allow Solskjaer time.

Liverpool And Chelsea Draw

Liverpool and Chelsea both drew 1-1 in their final group stage games. Liverpool drew away against FC Midtjylland, with Mohamed Salah’s first-minute opener cancelled out by Alexander Scholz.

Chelsea were at home to FC Krasnodar in their 1-1 draw, with Jorginho getting a 28th-minute penalty, just four minutes after former Newcastle player Rémy Cabella gave the visitors the lead.

Both teams go into the knockout stages of the Champions League as group, hoping to avoid the likes of Atlético Madrid and Barcelona.

Man City Ease To Champions League Win

Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling were both on the scoresheet during Man City’s 3-0 win over Marseillez

Manchester City beat French side Marseille 3-0 in their final game of the group stage. The Citizens end the group stage unbeaten, having only dropped points once.

The Champions League is the ultimate goal for Manchester City fans and the owners. This would complete the set. Can they do it?

They may not be in the best form, but it is not always the team with the best form that wins cup competitions. You only have to look back at Liverpool in 2005 and Chelsea in 2012. On paper, they certainly did not have the best team in the competition those seasons, but had that team spirit and got the wins when needed.

The Final Chapter In Ronaldo Vs Messi?

Ronaldo vs Messi has always been a debate amongst football fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi faced each other for the first time since Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid. The Italian side beat Barcelona 3-0, with Ronaldo netting twice on Tuesday night.

The two greatest players of their generation became rivals when they both batted for the Spanish league title as well as the Balon d’Or. With a combined age of 68 between both Ronaldo and Messi, could this be the last time they play each other. If it is, it is the final chapter in what has been one of the great footballing rivalries we have seen.

Elsewhere In The Champions League

Real Madrid avoided the scare of Europa League football, with a 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. French striker Karim Benzema scored both goals in the Madrid win.

Real Madrid have won the Champions League 13 times.

Atalanta beat Ajax 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Luis Muriel to advance through to the knockouts. Ajax will play in the Europa League after the new year.

Paris Saint-Germain beat Turkish side Ä°stanbul BaÅŸakÅŸehir 5-1 a day later than planned. The game was rearranged due to allegations of racial abuse from a fourth official. Both teams walked off the pitch.
