LAZY FAN EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United interested in World Cup star

Hirving Lozano had a breakout performance at this year’s World Cup, starring for Mexico before they were knocked out by an all-star Brazil side 2-0 in the Last 16.

In that tournament, explosive winger Lozano established himself as one of the world’s most exciting young players, scoring against Germany and starring against South Korea and, at just 22 years of age, it is no surprise that Lozano is in high demand off the back of his World Cup performances.

Manchester United target Hirving Lozano

Currently at PSV Eindhoven, Lozano scored 19 goals in his first season in Dutch football after a move from hometown club Pachuca. As a winger with genuine pace and an eye for goal it is no surprise that he is on the radar of many of the world’s biggest clubs and one of those is Manchester United.

Manchester United looking for firepower

As previously reported exclusively by Lazy Fan Sports, Jose Mourinho is happy to let fellow 22-year-old winger Anthony Martial leave this summer and Lozano is being considered as a potential replacement for the Frenchman despite their big money January move for Alexis Sanchez.

Jose Mourinho is willing to let Anthony Martial leave this summer and Lozano is a potential replacement

However, Sanchez is 29 now and Lozano would more than likely be bought in as a long-term replacement for the former Arsenal winger, meaning that a potential move for Lozano is not exactly Mourinho’s biggest priority in the transfer window right now even though there is genuine interest.

Certainly, Mourinho’s interest in Lozano has been brought about by his World Cup showings but there are a lot of moving parts involving any potential deal for the winger and he will only come in if Martial does leave.

It is believed that PSV are willing to let him leave for a fee which is considered “reasonable in today’s market” and that may encourage a move from elsewhere and United’s hand could be forced if they are serious about bringing the Mexican international to Old Trafford.
