Everton planning 2 ‘major’ summer bids for Welsh stars

According to various sporting outlets this morning, Everton are considering two major transfer offers this summer for Welsh superstars Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Gareth Bale has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu for the last couple of seasons but has remained stubborn in his refusal to be shipped out.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey in still in his first year at Juventus having made the move to the Italian champions on a free transfer at the end of the last season.

While both are perhaps a little bit past their best, there’s no doubt that they are both capable of playing at the very highest level. It would be an incredible coup for Everton if they were to land even one of this pair, let-alone both.

The pair are seen by owner Farhad Moshiri as the first step towards Everton progressing to the next level and breaking into the top six.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has a talented squad, but it’s nowhere near good enough to be challenging for Premier League titles.

The initial report, which came from 90min.com, states that the club believe they are “six or seven top class players” away from being at that level.

Everton all over the place

Everton manager Ancelotti

This season has been a little bit of a roller-coaster ride. Having started the season poorly under Marco Silva before replacing him with the legendary Carlo Ancelotti – it’s been a bit weird.

They currently sit 12th in the Premier League, whether that will matter or not in the long run is to be determined, but it is evidence of a team that are very much a work in progress.

Carlo Ancelotti had been starting to get the best out of his players, despite a bit of a setback at Chelsea, before the season was called to an abrupt halt.

If they can strengthen a bit in the transfer window, whenever that may be, they’ll be in good shape for next season.

As for the two players they are interested in, neither have particularly set the world alight this season. Ramsey has made 24 appearances for Juventus this term, scoring four goals and nabbing just the one assist – mostly from attacking midfield.

Meanwhile, Bale hasn’t exactly been on top of his game either. In all competitions, the mercurial Welshman has made 18 appearances, scoring three times and nabbing two assists as well. It’s fair to say he could do with a move away from Madrid.

As for when this could happen, it’s absolutely anybody’s guess right now. The likelihood is that transfer window will be delayed until the season ends – that could be months away yet. Chances are it won’t finish at all.

As mentioned earlier, both moves would be amazing coups for Everton but it’ll take a lot of money to lure either of those two away from the elite clubs they’re currently at.

The Carlo Ancelotti factor at Everton could go a long way towards helping lure star players to the club, but I’m not so sure either of these deals will happen for the Toffeees.
