Chelsea have been told by Argentinian football legend Hernan Crespo says that his compatriot and Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez could be the ‘new Sergio Aguero’.
Chelsea should go get Lautaro Martinez
Martinez has been attracting a lot of attention over the last year with the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona actively chasing his signature.
Martinez has bagged 16 goals in his 31 appearances in all competitions this season, including 11 in 22 in Serie A.
As for where he could end up, Metro report that while Barcelona are the prime candidates, Chelsea have offered better terms to both the player and Inter Milan.
Now though, talking about the players future for both club and country, Hernan Crespo compared him another Argentinian legend, Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.
“Lautaro could well be the new Sergio Aguero. He’s not as sharp in his dribbling, but he is more of a team player than Kun, who too often gets distracted and looks disinterested.
“Lautaro is always participating in the move, so he can play as a lone centre-forward or with another striker like Romelu Lukaku, even in a trident. I really like his mentality.”
Agent says that even Messi praise hasn’t turned players head
Martinez is very highly sought after and it seems that Barcelona have even employed their own Argentinian star Lionel Messi to try and lure him to the Camp Nou.
Messi turned up the charm a notch this week as he referred to Martinez as a ‘spectacular player’.
Meanwhile, Martinez’s agent says that the player has his head very much in the game and is not concerned by all the speculation linking him with a move away from the San Siro.
“For Lautaro it is a great compliment from the best in the world, I think that is very nice and comforting for him,” said agent Beto Yaque.
“He treats it [the speculation] as if it is nothing, because he is only focused on his club.
“But surely there is great satisfaction knowing that he is doing things well. Lautaro has a five-year contract with Inter and the news that comes out is exclusively generated by the press.”
