Burton Albion has been relegated from Championship after losing to 10-man Preston North End who in turn have missed out on a playoff spot.
Callum Robinson netted first with a beautiful header from Josh Harrop’s inswinging corner.
Burton Albion can be forgiven for harbouring hope when Preston goal-man Billy Bodin was sent off for simulation (second yellow card).
Prest fired back with Hope Akpan from 25-yards before Louis Moult gave Preston the lead late on to send Burton Albion down to League 1.
Unfortunately for Preston and Alex Neil, they missed out on a playoff spot after Derby thrashed Barnsley 4-1 to secure the final spot heading into the post-season.
Burton Albion Unable to Repeat 2016/17 Masterclass

Burton appeared doomed from April 10th after a 5-0 home loss to Hull left them bottom of the table with 7 points needed in the remaining 4 games.
But consecutive victories against Derby County, Sunderland and Bolton followed to give Burton real hope of another escape.
However, Sunday’s defeat brings Burton back down to earth as the club suffered it’s first relegation for 41 years.
Former Derby and Sheffield United gaffer Nigel Clough will also be experiencing his first ever relegation in his 20-year managerial career.
