Lionesses – Houghton + Bright start

These Lionesses will roar! Despite manager Phil Neville telling us they were doubts for tonight’s game against Norway, Millie Bright and Steph Houghton will both start at the back for England tonight.

Houghton was a big doubt for the game following that horror challenge in the dying embers of Sunday evening’s manic round of 16 match. Following a match full of poor behavior from Cameroon, Alexandra Takounda snapped the England skipper as the final whistle approached.

Takounda’s studs scraped down the ankle of Houghton who was in considerable discomfort. Fortunately, it hasn’t produced any long lasting damage and Houghton will lead the Lionesses out once more this evening.

Bright, on the other hand, was suffering from a “bug” according to the gaffa. She seems to have recovered and will, once again, start alongside Houghton at the back this evening.

Meanwhile, the only other change to the side from Sunday’s win sees the scorer of England’s third goal, Alex Greenwood, drop to the bench. She is replaced by Demi Stokes.
