LAZY FAN EXCLUSIVE: Phil Jones available for transfer

Manchester United have already sold one defender this transfer window after letting Dutch international Daley Blind return to Ajax after four years at Old Trafford where the 28-year-old won an FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield.

Now, Lazy Fan Sports can exclusively report that the Red Devils are prepared to let another defender leave this summer with England international Phil Jones currently available for transfer depending on whether or not Jose Mourinho is able to bring in the defensive reinforcements that he desires.

Jones joined Manchester United in 2011 after impressing the then boss Sir Alex Ferguson in a clash between United and Jones’ boyhood club Blackburn Rovers.

Since that £16.5 million move, Jones has made nearly 200 appearances in all competitions for United and won three major trophies at the club, including their 2012-13 Premier League triumph.

However, Jones has seen his career blighted by injuries and some high-profile mistakes with his most recent error coming in last season’s FA Cup Final against Chelsea where his foul on Eden Hazard allowed Hazard to score the winning goal from the penalty spot and cost United the game.

It was a disappointing way to end what had, for the most part, been one of Jones’ best seasons and culminated in him beating the likes of Burnley’s James Tarkowski and teammate Chris Smalling to a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Although Jones only made two appearances at the tournament, there will likely be plenty of suitors willing to splash out on the 26-year-old.

Defenders are in high demand in the Premier League for the upcoming season and Jones has the experience, international pedigree and ability to be a real asset to any club who comes in for him.

However, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho is able to bring in the signings he wants in order to let Jones go.
