Betting tips: Weekend 22/2-24/2

Following a successful weekend last week of betting tips dabbling in the Championship and pulling off an 8/1 double courtesy of a 91′ Ipswich Town equaliser at home against Stoke City, I’ve been given the reins to cover this week’s punts.

Hopefully, many of you got onto last week’s double and we can be enjoying similar success from our betting tips come the end of play Saturday.

NAP

If you’re unfamiliar with the term NAP – it denotes the best bet of the week; usually a single which is a sure fire banker and the most confident pick of the weekend. Now, there’s a debate to be had whether a NAP should represent value or safety – but if you know me I’m always on the look out for value and where the bookies have got it wrong.

I’m usually the most vocal for the number one rule in gambling – never back the early kick-off. Yet, this week I’m going to have to go against my own advice and listen to the heart. It should be no secret to you that I’m a lifelong Tottenham fan, and I advise you before you put this in your slip maybe I slightly have my blinkers on.

But having said that, Spurs away at Burnley in the lunch time kick-off seems to offer cracking value. An away win for a side seeking to put pressure onto Liverpool who play on Sunday, with 10 days rest since their emphatic win against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, a price of 7/10 (1.70) for Poch’s men seems too much to turn down.

Betting tips

Whilst the Lancashire side have begun to find resurgence, going unbeaten in seven – the potential returns of Ben Davies, Danny Rose and one of our own, Harry Kane, to the squad could prove to be just the boost Spurs need to overcome a tricky tie at Turf Moor.

Should this not land – don’t say I didn’t warn you about early kick off’s and this could prove to be my last punt on it …

NAP of the week – Burnley V Tottenham Hotspur – Spurs win @ 1.70 (7/10)

Sol’s Betting tips Double

What’s that old saying? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? Well, after a debut success with my double last week I don’t see the point in changing the system and bringing in even more permutations and getting greedy with odds.

Again let’s seek some value shall we? My double this week is as follows:

  • Newcastle United V Huddersfield – Newcastle win @ 1.83 (5/6)
  • Norwich V Bristol City – Bristol City win @ 4.00 (3/1)

Prices up to 7.33 (6.33/1) with Bet365.

I’m not sure I really need to even begin to justify picking Newcastle. A huge game for the Magpies as they sit just a point above the relegation zone, with their opponents propping up the table in 20th position and just 14 points to show for this campaign. Fresh from back-to-back home victories and up against a side who’ve only managed as many goals as points, 14, in their 26 league games – the worst in the league by some margin. The Terriers also don’t fare too well on their travels, managing to break down the defence in just three of their last eight away fixtures.

Now comes to the biggest of our betting tips, Bristol City away at title chasing Norwich City. Bristol have quietly gone on a spectacular run in the league, undefeated in their last 13 (W9, D4) including seven straight wins. Interestingly for Norwich fans, the Canaries have only managed just two wins against sides in the top-seven so far this season as it seems they struggle against the teams in and around them.

Don’t expect a goal fest however – as Bristol boast the second best defence in the league, conceding just 30 goals this season. This is a bit of a punt – but at 3/1 it’s a punt that is hard to turn around and let’s hope for a slightly easier on the heart weekend and the double to be gaining cash out value after half-time instead of a 91st minute goal to land it – no matter how it lands though let’s hope it does.

Happy punting and we’ll be back in the week to bring some tips for the midweek Premier League fixtures.
