The Billion Dollar Deal

The Billion Dollar Deal

The billion dollar deal has been struck and it’s the biggest deal in boxing history!

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, and Americas leading sports media company, Perform Group have agreed the deal of a lifetime.

Spanning 8 years the joint venture will see Matchroom boxing USA stage 16 full boxing cards in each. Perform Group’s streaming platform, DAZN, will be the exclusive broadcasting platform for each event.

Eddie Hearn, Managing director of Matchroom Boxing says “This is a historic moment for Matchroom and the sport of boxing. Since our expansion to the US, we have been looking for a partner that shares our vision and that can give us the volume of dates and rights fees required to build the strongest stable in world boxing and take it to a new level.

“America – we have well and truly arrived, let the fun begin!”

The work done by Eddie and Matchroom over the past few years has revolutionised British boxing  the target is to take over America. The stable boasted by Matchroom gives a great scope to take big name fighters over to the states. UK fighters selling out stadiums of up to 90,000 and pulling the biggest numbers in boxing history has become common practice, these results however 38 year old Hearn is almost exclusively accredited with the achievement.

In preparation for the upcoming events Hearn plans to sign some fantastic American talent. Several names have been thrown around the ring, however the likes of Errol Spence Jr, Deontay Wilder and Adrien Broner appear to carry the most weight.

The boxing ship has set sail and with Hearn as captain I am confident it can achieve great things. DAZN platform has proven itself as a superior for the viewer in several countries around the world. Only time will tell but the Essex boy is coming.
